Rolls Royce Sweptail
The Rolls Royce Sweptail is a one-of-a-kind the most expensive car in the world, after the Bugatti Chiron that costs around $2.9 million. The Rolls Royce Sweptail unveiled this weekend at the Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este, on the banks of Lake Como, Italy, has now snatched the title multiple times over for being world’s most expensive vehicle till date costing around a whooping $12.9 million!
More than safety features and emission norms, Rolls Royce was better focused on the kind of luxury they did put in to make this car feel like a lavish yacht on wheels. The Sweptail is inspired and is an extension of the 103EX concept, showed under its Vision Next 100 – an idea to make personalised futuristic cars for its special customers.
The owner for this car frequently purchases exclusive yachts and seems to have wanted the same design for this 6-meter long luxury mammoth. The Sweptail gets the largest ever aluminium grille in the Rolls Royce range and is hand-polished in mirror finish. The signature ornament ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ is also the largest ever seen before on any Rolls Royce. Under the long bonnet lies a humongous 6.6-litre V12 engine, despite being a 2-seater coupe.
“Sweptail is the automotive equivalent of Haute Couture,” said Giles Taylor, Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The Sweptail took approximately 4 years from scratch to end which was completely designed and hand-tailored to fit a specific customer.
Rolls Royce has been known for its magnificent piece of engineering and design inspired from aircrafts and now, yachts! With world-class luxury comes a pricetag, which we are sure their buyers do not mind paying.
